Cynthia Almond – District 3 Representative Tuscaloosa City Council

Cynthia Almond (2)Cynthia Almond is serving her third term as the District 3 representative on the Tuscaloosa City Council, having first been elected in 2005. She is the chair of the council’s Finance Committee, vice chair of the Public Safety committee and a member of the Litigation and Insurance committee.

Cynthia also is a member of the boards of directors of the Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission,
the West Alabama Regional Commission and First National Bank of Central Alabama. She is a graduate of Leadership Alabama. 

Born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Cynthia graduated from Central High School, attended Vanderbilt University and received a B.A. from the University of Alabama, majoring in history and minoring in Spanish. She graduated from the UA School of Law and practiced for three years before returning to the university, where she worked for more than a decade and was assistant dean for Advancement. In that capacity, she was the law school’s chief fundraiser and also was manager of the Law School Foundation. 

Cynthia returned to private law practice in 2006 and has her own firm specializing in the areas of probate, estates and trusts and business law.

She and her husband, Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge Brad
Almond, have two children, Lee and Miller. The family is active
in First United Methodist Church.
