Osher LearningSharon has served as president of both The University of Alabama Retirees Association (TUARA) and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at The University of Alabama (OLLI). After teaching and serving as the assistant dean in the School of Social Work, she began a second career as the director of DCH Employee Assistance Program.

She volunteers as a greeter at University Medical Center, serves as a docent at Westervelt-Warner Museum, and helps with programs through the Tuscaloosa County Master Gardeners and United Way. She also has been a volunteer with Kentuck for several years.

She enjoys taking classes through OLLI. Her interests have varied from the arts to history. “I am particularly excited about the growth of this program, which has reached more than 600 members, including a program beginning at the Gadsden campus,” she said.

In her spare time, she loves to paint, weave and garden. “Family, however, comes first,” she said, speaking of her husband of 43 years, George, her two adult children and two grandchildren.
