Vicki Kerr, Executive director at Caring Days Adult Day Care, spoke to the Club last Tuesday about the progress on a new facility that is being funded with the support of the Rotary Club of Tuscaloosa. Rotarian Lee Henderson introduced the speaker.

They are projecting an opening of September 3rd 2012, Kerr said, and the new facility will meet many of the needs that Caring Days has identified in recent years. They will have their own laundry capabilities, for example, with two washers and a dryer; an emergency drop-off area and covered porches so clients can enjoy fresh air; a modern commercial kitchen (that will mean no more lunches catered from the VA!); an art room that connects to a board room that will also serve as an educational area; and new bathrooms with lift capabilities to better assist employees help their clients.

Kerr also said that the new facility will have on display a mosaic dedicated to the memory of loved ones. She encouraged the community to bring items to place on the wall, and reminded everyone that Caring Days is a community facility that is there for us all.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Warner presented Vicki with another check to go toward the funding of the completion of the facility. For more information about Caring Days, its programs and new facility, visit www.caringdays.org
