Gary Minor is the Director for Tuscaloosa’s PARA. Before becoming director of PARA in 2011, Minor was PARA’s superintendent of recreation. He worked with PARA for several years before becoming its Director. Before that, he worked with the University of Alabama’s recreation department for 12 years.

“My goal is to create new recreation opportunities for people in this county. I want to have an organization my board is proud of, the community is proud of and the elected officials are proud of.” Minor stated in an article for the Tuscaloosa News.

Minor said he would emphasize getting PARA’s name in front of the community and educating people on what the organization has to offer. The agency offers more than 100 recreational programs and maintains 37 parks. Minor is the third director in PARA’s history.
